Kinrin is one of the most popular matcha teas from the Marukyu Koyamaen brand in Japan.

It marks an important point in the brand’s lineup, because it is the first tea in their range (following Wako) that can be used not only for thin tea (usucha) but also for thick tea (koicha). This alone is a sign of exceptional quality. To understand this better, it is worth noting that koicha is traditionally served at the very end of Japanese tea ceremonies as the culmination of the ritual, thanks to its high caffeine content. After a few dense, concentrated sips, guests leave the four-hour ceremony feeling refreshed.

Another reason for Kinrin’s popularity is its versatility. It works beautifully not only as ceremonial thick tea but also as a light, everyday usucha. Its freshness, gentle character, and exceptionally rich flavor profile create a harmonious balance that makes it easy to enjoy on any day of the week.
