Tenju is the highest-ranked matcha tea of the producer Marukyu Koyamaen, and is often served during prestigious tea ceremonies in Japan. It is primarily recommended to be prepared as koicha (thick or ceremonial matcha tea), but of course it can also be consumed as usucha (lighter or thin matcha tea).

The name 'Tenju' means "Heavenly gift", though in English we could say "a gift from the gods" to better reflect the feeling.
