The philosophy of “kintsugi”

This matcha bowl was inspired by the spirit of "Kintsugi", the idea not to throw away broken things, but to turn their faults into their own unique beauty. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese repair technique in which broken ceramics are repaired with lacquer and the flawed parts decorated with gold and silver. It is not just about appearance, but is rooted in the philosophy of not viewing chips and scratches as mere defects, but accepting them as part of the broken ceramic's history and individuality, and so breathing new life into them...

Tenmoku kintsugi style, white

The soft white glaze is like a snowy field, delicately decorated with gold, creating a tranquil and noble beauty. It gives an elegant and pure impression, as if the metallic shimmer of the gold melted into a seemingly endless world of white. These tea bowls, carefully handcrafted one by one, will vividly reflect the strong green color of the matcha. Every time you prepare matcha tea, you will feel the harmony between the transparent beauty of white color and the warm glow of the gold leaf.

Enjoy your own tea ceremony with the philosophy of Kintsugi, that "beauty resides in imperfection".
